The AI Remediation of the Web and Future Perspectives for Web Authoring and Publishing
Dr Alessio Antonini
This event will take place on 26th November 2025 at 11:30am (11:30 GMT)
Knowledge Media Institute, Berrill Building, The Open University, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, MK7 6AA
The Web is being rewired around AI. On the one hand, the new evaluation criteria prioritise quality over quantity, "useful" and unique against the generic AI slop. On the other hand, AI agents are replacing search and visiting sites, remediating content into conversations. As an immediate result, a large number of authors are losing their audience either to the new changes in search engine policy or the zero-click fruition that AI summaries provide. As bot visits already overtake human traffic and AI-generated content is also expected to follow shortly, a question arises about how human authoring and publishing could and should engage with the future web. This seminar explores three approaches in continuity with existing trends in web-native practices. |
