This event took place on 14th February 2001 at 4:00pm (16:00 GMT)
Berrill Lecture Theatre, The Open University, Walton Hall Campus, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom
The theme of this talk was that the new barrier for educators to overcome is the lack of time learners have for study. Robin Mason argued that we should not regard short courses - or even learning objects - as a third rate form of learning. Rather, we must see that time, and specifically the lack of it, is a challenge just as distance, and specifically the surfeit of it, was for us when distance teaching universities were created.
As a webcast, this talk advantages the distant audience over the face-to-face audience: there was a comment area during the live broadcast for remote listeners to participate, whereas the audience in the Berrill Lecture Theatre had no opportunity for interaction. |
