Equality, Diversity and You

Implementing the Open University’s new equality scheme

This event took place on 16th February 2010 at 10:30am (10:30 GMT)
Berrill Lecture Theatre, The Open University, Walton Hall Campus, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom
Join us for the launch of the Open University’s new equality scheme which incorporates our disability, gender and race schemes and includes for the first time our commitments and actions across a much wider range of individual characteristics, including age, caring and dependency responsibilities, gender identity, religion or belief and sexual orientation. Our keynote speaker is Baroness Margaret Prosser of Battersea, OBE, Deputy Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and members of the University’s Vice Chancellor’s Executive will take part in the event.

Through presentation and panel discussion, we will:
  • Reaffirm the relationship between equality and the University’s mission and core values.
  • Outline changes in the way the University manages equality and diversity.
  • Discuss the importance of utilising the enormous strength that diversity brings in these more challenging economic times.
A programme, poster and booking form are available on the web at: www.open.ac.uk/equality-diversity/p2.shtml

We hope you can join us for this important milestone in the University’s work to create an inclusive university community and society.
