AI in action: Translating Human Data into Concrete Applications
Giuseppe Scarpi

This event took place on 17th February 2026 at 11:30am (11:30 GMT)
Knowledge Media Institute, Berrill Building, The Open University, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, MK7 6AA

In my professional work in industry, I focus on practical applications, even in research. As a PhD student at the University of Cagliari, I apply this approach to two seemingly distant cases: generating synthetic reviews and using AI for professional growth. The "fil rouge" is leveraging AI to extract useful information from human data. The first use case involves developing a pipeline for creating synthetic reviews (e.g., for tourism or e-commerce), combining the flexibility of LLMs with taxonomies. The second case starts from business information like CVs or AI-based interviews to extract insights, identify skill gaps, and suggest growth paths for companies or individuals. In this seminar, we will explore both use cases from a scientific/technical perspective while keeping an eye on business applications.
