Part One: Green Social Prescribing

 

In this talk we will consider how green social prescribing can support people to age well. Join us to understand more about what green social prescribing is, how you can access support or becomes a volunteer, and how it can improve health and wellbeing outcomes. We will also consider the developing evidence base and what this means for health systems and the environment.

 

Kate Ellis - Head of Wellbeing for Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity. The charity is involved in a range of environmental and countryside initiatives, alongside a health and wellbeing arm. This makes them ideally placed to deliver green social prescribing. Kate will share the experiences of her team and bring the service to life through some case studies.

 

Sonal Mehta– VCSE Partnership Lead for Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board. Sonal is a pharmacist by background and has worked across diverse areas in the health system. Sonal supports collaborative action to create strategic partnerships between the voluntary, community, and social enterprise sectors and the health and care system.

 

Part two: The Importance of Exercise as We Age

In this talk Charlotte and Rob will explore the vital role that exercise plays in healthy ageing, going beyond just the physical benefits. We will look at how movement supports not only the body, but also emotional wellbeing, mental sharpness, and social connection. Drawing on our holistic approach, we will highlight how our tailored programmes, group classes and supportive community is designed to meet the full spectrum of needs for older adults. Whether it’s improving mobility, boosting mood, staying mentally alert, or feeling connected with others, we are here to help every step of the way. The talk will be supported by voiced over videos.

Rob Juson FRSA – Rob has been a Trustee of The Reach for Health Centre since 2012 and was Chair of Trustees from 2014 to 2023. His background is largely commercial having been in senior management for a large international company. His main focus was business and people development. He is passionate about the enormous benefits that The Reach for Health Centre provides for its users and works with the Team to consistently improve our Services including the Active Healthy Ageing programmes that have become an increasingly popular and important part of this.

 

Charlotte Andre - Chartered Physiotherapist working at The Reach for Health Centre in Daventry, Northamptonshire. With a compassionate and holistic approach, she helps individuals maintain mobility, strength, and independence through tailored exercise and rehabilitation programs. Charlotte is passionate about encouraging and helping people to stay active, confident, and connected at every stage of life.
