Media-centric Information Systems for Communities of Practice in the Cultural Sciences
Marc Spaniol

This event took place on 5th September 2005

The success of information systems in business, engineering, or humanities heavily depends on the discursive nature of knowledge creation in a community of practice. Especially, the humanities require a particularly sensitive design of information systems that is aligned with their scientific methodology. Therefore, information systems that aim at assisting communities in the cultural sciences need to be able to capture, to visualize, and to support the ongoing scientific discourse.
