Citizen-led social innovation: re-booting academia
Public Engagement with Research seminars
Dr Erinma Ochu

This event took place on 10th February 2014 at 1:15pm (13:15 GMT)
Knowledge Media Institute, Berrill Building, The Open University, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, MK7 6AA

In the face of complex and global challenges, from climate change to food security and contagious disease, crowdsourcing, citizen science and gaming are increasingly becoming recognised as "cost-effective" ways of offering "high value to research, policy and practice". How can higher education recognise and support the next generation of socially-responsible researchers demanding post-disciplinary careers with social impact, not academic citations, as their currency? And, how can the public get in on the action? What are the challenges and opportunities for socially-responsible researchers opening the door to outside influences?

Join Erinma to be provoked, share perspectives and imagine the future of citizen-led social innovation.
