Relevant to discussion of the Benin Bronzes on the OU’s A111 (previously AA100), Prof Dan Hicks will talk about his new book, The Brutish Museums: the Benin Bronzes, Colonial Violence and Cultural Restitution (2020) in which he explains that the attack on Benin had long been planned, and slave trade money funded the Pitt Rivers Collection.
