John is Director of Breakthrough Consultancy, working primarily in Ireland and the UK. He's an executive coach and facilitator specialising in conflict management, leadership and team development. Formerly, as Director of the Human Potential Group at Surrey University, U.K., he established the MSc in Change Agent Skills and Strategy based at the School of Management. He has designed and facilitated peace and reconciliation programmes on behalf of Glencree and the E.U. Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Ireland.

He is Programme Director for the Future Leaders and the forthcoming Knowledge Exchange Leadership Development programmes for the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education.
He is author of several books and articles and publishes a free monthly “Healthy Conflict” newsletter exploring and extending practice in the field.

In this seminar, John explored ways in which we can prepare for those "difficult conversations" and how friction and conflict can be turned into a learning experience through dialogue.
