I have explored how SIGCHI research community have explored themes that are political. I conducted thematical analysis of the research community to highlight how broad the topic can be. Following this, I seek to explore the literature using conceptualizations of democracy and politics grounded in political science. Emerging from these, I suggest how the SIGCHI community can increase the problem-solving capacity. I also believe that the political science community could benefit from methods and approaches used by HCI researchers when examining digital environments.
