CELEBRATE DISABILITY HISTORY MONTH

This event took place on 28th November 2011 at 12:30pm (12:30 GMT)
Berrill Lecture Theatre, The Open University, Walton Hall Campus, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

The second ever UK Disability History Month will take place between 22 November and 22 December this year. This is an opportunity to celebrate the struggles and achievements of disabled people, to create a better understanding of the barriers in society which disabled people face and to help develop campaigning activity on what needs to be changed to enable disabled people to achieve equality in all areas of life.

As part of this celebration, the OU UCU branch, the OU Equality and Diversity Team and the OU Disabled Staff Network are jointly sponsoring this meeting. The main speaker will be Richard Rieser, a long time campaigner on disability issues who is the Co-ordinator of UK Disability History Month.

There will also be brief presentations on how the OU is advancing disability equality and on the role of the Disabled Staff Network.

All are welcome, whether disabled or not.

If you have particular access requirements please email Strategy-Equality@open.ac.uk with details so that we can support your needs.
