Living with Empathy

project launch

This event took place on 1st October 2009
Berrill Lecture Theatre, The Open University, Walton Hall Campus, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom
Professor Lynne Cameron launched the project on 1st October 2009 in the Berrill Lecture Theatre. The event opened by Lynne was followed with an example of the reality of empathy in post conflict reconciliation: Jo Berry, whose father was killed in an IRA bombing 25 years ago, talked about her journey to understand the motivation that led to violence, in conversation with Patrick Magee, who planted the bomb. Lynne also illustrated how metaphor analysis of Jo and Pat’s conversations provides insights for a theory of empathy and for research users, such as mediators and communicators.
