Travis Timoko currently works at Te Wananga o Aotearoa, New Zealand's largest indigenous tertiary education institution. As the School Services Manager he oversees a small unit tasked with engaging young people with education of relevance to Maori attending compulsory and alternative schooling. Ideally this engagement is a meaningful connection that promotes education that is enjoyable and provides pathways to further education and employment.

Travis gained his Bachelor of Social Sciences and Master of Applied Psychology with the University of Waikato. Bringing together his role at Te Wananga o Aotearoa working with youth and his interest in emerging technology Travis enrolled on a PhD with Massey University. Now as a part-time PhD Candidate Travis is working towards completing the
following Thesis: Towards an effective model of using emerging technologies within tikanga Maori based learning environments.
